On one side of the Acme Lofts is LoDo and Larimer Square.  Larimer Square houses some of Denver’s hippest restaurants and clubs.  The brand new mezze lounge, Chloe, is located at 14th Street and Market Street.  This swanky new nightclub inspired by an imaginary muse named Chloe is the place to be.  A staple of the Denver restaurant scene, Rioja, can be found on Larimer in between 14th Street and 15th Street.  They serve Medeterannian inspired cuisine based on local and in season foods.  Also in Larimer Square is an awesome speakeasy themed bar called Green Russell.  It looks like a pie shop from the outside (and actually sells pies one day a week) but on the inside it is a huge bar where the waiters wear newsboy caps and the walls are illuminated by gas lamps.

The Acme Lofts are also very close to The Pepsi Center, the arena where Colorado’s NHL and NBA teams play, as well as the Denver’s largest amusement park, Elitch Gardens.

The luxury condo development called 24 Walnut is located on the 2300 block of Walnut Street.  Market Street in Lower Downtown is a well known street but less know about it after it changes names to Walnut Street after the baseball park.  The luxury condos at 24 Walnut are an extravagent three stories high and have a huge rooftop deck.  The views here are incredible as the skyscrapers from downtown are not blocking anything.

1. MUSIC

South Broadway is home to one of Denver’s most intimate and well known small venues, the Hi-Dive.  The Hi-Dive always hosts amazing indie acts and up-and-coming local acts.  Shows are usually inexpensive and start at just $6.  Over the weekend (July 21-24), South Broadway was host to the 11th annual Underground Music Showcase.  This festival encompassed 25 businesses (venues, bars, galleries and stores) and showcased around 350 bands, many of which were local.  Having a luxury condo to take a break at and walk home to during the showcase is a great reason to live on South Broadway.

2. DIVERSITY

Denver is home to a great amount of diversity, but South Broadway has more to offer than authentic taquerias.  SOBO 151 is a Czech bar and restaurant.  Here you can get your filling of schnitzels and pilsners, hear many Eastern European languages and watch World Cup Hockey with very serious fans.  If you are down for the experience but afraid to try the food, do not fret, SOBO also has a great traditional American bar menu.  The bartenders here are mostly Czech and incredibly friendly- ask them anything you want to know about their culture and you’ll be talking for hours.

3. ART

South Broadway is the perfect place for an artist or an art lover.  Denver’s best art supply store, Meininger’s, has a huge location on Broadway.  If you are into sewing, knitting or crocheting try the Fancy Tiger supply store.  The Fancy Tiger Boutique is right across from the craft store and houses handmade products by Colorado designers and artists.  This is a great place to find unique jewelry.

There are quite a few galleries in this part of Denver.  The most intriguing is Illiterate.  Illiterate always has interesting and engaging art and if you are interested in what else they may have to offer they have an entire online catalog of art.  Artists can submit their work online and then Illiterate chooses their favorite work and publishes it in Illiterate Magazine.  The gallery is cutting edge because of the options it provides artists.

4. SHOPPING

South Broadway is known as Denver’s best place for antiquing.  There are multitudes of antique shops up and down the street.  After you drive past I-25, that is almost all you’ll see for several blocks.  There are also some great vintage furniture and clothing stores on this stretch of road.  If you like to make the old new again, this is the area for you!

5. MOVIES

The Mayan Theatre is also located on Broadway.  This independent cinema gives a movie buff a completely unique experience.  There is a bar inside the Mayan, so if you prefer to enjoy a glass of wine while watching a movie, you can do it here rather than stay at home.  The Mayan shows only great movies.  New releases will be independent or foreign language films that you have heard of, but cannot find at a normal theatre.  There are also ongoing film festivals that showcase older films.

If you are going on a date, check out Sweet Action before the movies.  This ice cream parlor makes the best homemade ice cream Denver has to offer.  The flavors are unique and sometimes tailored to Colorado.  Try the Palisade Apricot or Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey.
